yes except that you get promoted to Kapitan Leutnant (yay finally made "KaLeun") and use your renown (reputation/political leverage/somesuch) to be awarded a brand spanking new boat with all the hottest gizmos. And you're demoted to Leutnant zur See. The system is flawed so you might as well see it as 'buying' into new stuff. In real life, you would have been given the latest RWR and typeV torpedoes anyway, if you were a good skipper. In the game, those things are subtracted from renown which means you're forever stuck around 1000 points from 1942 onward. (well, I am, anyway)
