This is pure thought.

I think stuttering is where the mind is trying to think too fast, but the vocabulary, or the answer is not clear, or doesn't make sense yet. For example on myself, if I cleaned the kitchen and my roommate came in and said I ruined his frying pan (let's say)

I would stand there and think. If he interupted by saying something, I'd either think again or tell him to shhh!!!!!

If I wasn't able to close my mouth and look... it usually takes less than half a second, but then I figure it out.

I'm a "slow" thinker. It takes me at least a half second or more to analise the situation and react.

I would believe that stuttering is a way for the mind to buy time.
