You're in an area of lots of allied air cover.

Say the Western Approaches, or the approaches to the Gib.
Nice deep water there too.
And you can head West for a bit when you want to reload externals.

But that's what I'd do.

I wouldn't think the IXB is the right sort of sub for hunting in the AN Grid Squares.

Well, this is my first time playing with an IXB, too. So the way I was playing it out was this:

I'd already been assigned a patrol area (obviously based upon my old VIIB) so I decided to keep to my familiar hunting grounds as a sort of 'shake down cruise' while I and my crew got familiar with things. Which is why I stayed 'local',

As to the lesson learned about reloading anywhere near a traffic route well . . . consider it a lesson well-learned!
