HMS Triad was sunk 1940 by the italian submarine "Enrico Toti".
This episode was famous because, the battle was fought with both vessels surfaced one near the other at machine gun range and one Italian sailor was able to threw a boot at the men on the conning tower of the English sub to distract them.
