The unique arrangement of
Argonaut's deck torpedo tubes, installed during her 1942 modernization:
The
Narwhal, modernized a year later, has two of her added deck tubes much further forward than in the
Nautilus and two at the very stern as in the
Argonaut.
The tubes under the
Narwhal's after gun remained non-firing stowage tanks for spare torpedoes...
