Heino Ferch played Roman Cycowski in "The Harmonists" - he was the one whose girlfriend converted to Judaism in order to marry him. Also my personal favorite of the bunch, for some reason... I dunno, he seemed so sweet. He actually lived long enough to see the film:

Roman and his wife Mari retired to Palm Springs, California in 1971, but Roman didn't stay retired for long. He quickly took a job as a cantor in Palm Springs, gave voice lessons, and also taught the German language. He continued to sing well into his '90s, becoming the oldest practicing cantor in the United States.
Roman lived to see the resurgence of interest in The Comedian Harmonists, and saw the Vilsmaier film in 1998. He died on November 9, 1998, just two months shy of his 98th birthday. Mari Panzram Cycowski, who risked her life by converting to Judaism during the Nazi's rise to power so that she could marry Roman, still lives in Palm Springs.
This is Roman:

The same actor also played Albert Speer in
