I can see your point. It was a stale and hackneyed response to a completely new and exciting development in human interaction, wherein two men pretend that having what they each believe is the bigger/better/faster/etc. weapon makes one of them more "manly" than than the other.
And by "new and exciting" I of course mean "has been going on since the beginning of time."
