Just to clarify:

The rank is written "Kapitän" (or written with an English alphabet without Umlaut: "Kaptiaen") However the captain of a uboat usually held the rank of "Oberleutnant", "Kapitänleutnant" (Kaleun) or higher like "Korvettenkapitän" Generally no matter what his rank is, he is referred to as "Herr Kaleu" or "Herr Kaleun" similar to the English tradtion to call anyone in command of a ship "Captain"

The other one you mentioned should be "Obergruppenführer" which roughly translates into "Chief Group Leader" and is an SS rank and certainly not applicable to the navy
