Ahoy shipmates. I'm an old Silent Hunter player and modder making a return to the Subsim forums after a long absence. My last log-in on this forum was back in 2007, so here I am again, happy to be back and thankyou Neal for helping me recover my account.
I started off Subsimming way back in the day with Silent Hunter 2. I quickly moved on to Silent Hunter 3 when that was released, and ever since have been playing that with the excellent GWX expansion, which used some of the aircraft skins I created for SH3. I gave Silent Hunter 4 a complete miss since my PC at the time wouldn't have been able to run the game anyway.
So now I'm back with a bigger, beefier PC and a copy of Silent Hunter 5, which I'm hopeful can become a great game with a bit of tweaking and modding. I will admit I've have been having a few initial difficulties with SH5 (Only acquired it two days ago and haven't yet got out of the Kiel Canal) but those worries belong in a different thread.
I've always been a fan of the tactical/strategy war game, particularly those with a naval setting. I've been a dedicated Combat Flight Simmer in the past and for a long time also been addicted to the 'Total War' series of games, especially Empire and Napoleon which I've been playing rather a lot of lately.
Great to be back and I look forward to seeing what the community can turn SH5 into. If anything like the amount of work and expertise goes into modding SH5 that went into GWX, then it definitely has the potential to be amazing.
