You guys have to sink the carrier when she is patroling, a port kill wont count. I tested this. Sunk a carrier at port, no mission update, then sunk another one I encounter later on patrol, and the mission updated. I am not 100% sure of this, but it made sence to me after the patrol kill.

Yep I sank her heavily escorted in the middle of the ocean and still credited 0
