im not a fan of this at all.
experience can perfect how a crew does things, morale is insignificant cos theyre fighting for their very survival. they will always do as instructed cos theyre a professionally trained team, every individual relies on each doing their job. to for a single crew member not do that would be 'suicide' for that individual.

my take on human psychology =
-people panic, freeze under stress cos they want to survive. portrayed as johan in das boot.
-the easiest way to be suicidal in a uboat [besides the captains lugar] is to be more aggressive and dedicated.

perhaps morale should be treated as a random system failure that is scripted to potentially occur in the heat of battle, or prolonged depth charging? a single random crew member fails to react, so you get someone else to cover for him. he doesnt get an iron cross, he gets a bullet or court-marshal instead. if they cant fix this, i'd be happy to see the morale issue removed from SH5.

just my thoughts.
