In "Iron Coffins", Werner mentions on his first cruise when his uboat was sabataged and stuck stern-first in the mud, the crew moved to the bow to bring it down.

Then when the keel was stuck in the mud, the crew ran back and forth in the boat, end-to-end, after blowing ballast, to un-stick the boat from the mud.
