Found out it was stupid media player, i downloaded that freebie ''KM player'' then played the sound using that and recorded it with soundforge and got no background noise.  Soundforge didn't seem to like Media Player or other way round.

The biggest thing I liked about Sound Forge was the noise reduction plugin (separate disk), the thing I didn't like is when ever I needed the program it would say it is unregistered & had to redo it, they have very good support but shouldn't have to keep doing it, I have a whole list of activation codes that I kept having to re-enter!!

Hope they have improved!!
