You say potential customers. Customers that have seen Silent Hunter for years and years and suddenly will get the game.
Will that happen yes? But not nearly enough to warrant the development funds to continue this madness.
And yes many wont play a "RSR" sim. But lets face the facts. Clancy sells. U-Boats and fleet boats have had their time and continuing to do them over and over has led to this fiasco of SH5. Where walking on the sub becomes suddenly its main "Selling" point instead of being fresh in its entire perspective.
For all we know SH5 being clobbered with lack of sales mainly due to staleness and DRM (Sadly I wouldn't buy SH5 right now even if it had a Destroyer Command perspective) Could end the line. Game development is expensive and its going to be REALLY hard to convince the higher ups to fund yet another line.
Now im not saying "It goes Clancy or it goes" Being fresh can be any number of things. Heck if they wanted to go WW2 again atleast do it from a surface perspective. Let us fight with battleships not hacked in perhaps. Or a more broad multiunit perspective. More WW2 TDC isnt a recipe for more sales.
