radio silence is more for immersion.
usually I harp about everything that I see, smell, hear, or taste that seems out of place.
task force? yup
merchant? yessir
somebody farted in the control room? you betcha

fr Nautilus (SS-168)
Ensign Woodward passed gas in the control room during a standard trim dive earlier this morning. a captains mast is in the works as we would prefer the Japanese over another gas attack from last night's roast beef.
SH427, CO USS Nautilus (SS-168))
no court martial yet.
(sorry lurker!)

this is what I usually do if I've had an unevenful patrol.
1. I complete my objectives,
2. once completed I fire off a status report
3. sometimes they will reassign you to a different patrol sector.
4. whoop-dee-doo.
5. usually I am low on stocks from failed attacks and fuel bunkerage, so I find a nearby friendly port and check, doublecheck, and triplecheck that I can make it to that port,
6. I resupply,
and
7. I take the most dangerous route through as much enemy territory as possible.
8. after finding something (be it sampans or a task force) sink what you can and RTB

be more agressive!
