it's reading patrol reports like this that make me all nice and giddy inside...and makes me wish I had better luck.

I was testing out the Narwhal we are building in an RFB+rsrdc Campaign (testing ranges, how good it looks during sunrises and sunsets...important stuff )

it's January 1942 (at 10 knots it took me that long to get to my patrol area near Taipei, starting patrol on 7th Dec 1941. X_X)

after getting nothing but airplane contacts for a while I was pleasantly surprised to come across a spotted ship. it ended up being a convoy. I set up a perfect attack on a passing tanker, and, knowing both the amount of duds and that the RFB damage model is tough as nails (you really deserve every ship you sunk) I readied all four bow tubes. I set up my solution and to my surprise, all of them hit (I haven't done a firing solution proper in months) O_O
but...none of them exploded. -_-
I submerged to 150 feet as the (lone) destroyer and a small minesweeper poked around to look for wherever those 4 torpedoes came from. after a while the convoy and destroyer straggled on zigzagging like there was no tomorrow...leaving the minesweeper to continue searching. having saved the game before the torpedo attack I felt like testing the guns (vital to making sure they work right) so I surfaced and started blasting away at this little minesweeper. Mind you, the Narwhal is HUGE. and it carried a pair of 6-inchers. I sank this poor little minesweeper without much ado. (a whopping 147 tons)
I'm on my way to a friendly port to restock my torpedoes and head back to my new patrol zone, at the northern mouth of the Formosa straights.

Congrats on your two flattops! (and your bronze star perhaps they ran out of the better medals?)
it's time I got a little more aggressive...in my semi of a submarine
