I haven't tried disabling the adapter and frankly I don't see why I would do that while playing a game, but yes, this is true. Ubisoft's game launcher is a separate, resident program that is active all while the game is playing and takes up about 16mb RAM and a single (I think) network port while running. It generates no network traffic most of the time, in fact almost none at all. It closes and leaves the system memory the moment I close the game.
