Back in 2000 your average games retailer had several shelves of asorted simulators for the PC, now you are lucky to find one with several shelves of PC games period.
Fact is, sims are not as popular as they once were, look at the success of the Wii - casual and retro style games seem to be all the rage. PCs have lost their edge over the consoles as the games platform of choice, throw in spiraling hardware requirments & costs/ bugs/ patches/ piracy/ DRM into the mix and its not really hard to see why.
