"Gone gold" means it's reached it's release state and been sent to the manufacturers.
However, in this case Ubisoft is selling a "
Gold Edition" of SH5 complete with Draconian "constant grip" DRM, 3 unplayable U-boat skins you might possibly see, 4 "unique" ship models you might happen to bump into and some PDFs of a guide of some sort for $10 more than the $49.95 rental fee for the basic game. It's basically the Collector's Edition for the US without anything collectible.
