The petition says that the gamers want Ubisoft to remove the DRM, so buying the game will not undermine the petition. If anything, not signing it if you don't agree with DRM will undermine it, as the percentage of signatures to sales will be lower.

You could refuse to buy the game
and sign the petition, it's not mutually exclusive. Every protest you can make is a good one and every time you don't use your voice, you will never be heard.
