The Russians seem to favor them; I've just been to the K-77 and Rudolf Eglehofer/Hiddensee, and orange displays figure(d) prominently in their radar systems.

Unfortunately, either some of the displays shown in these photos were in compartments that were inaccessible to visitors, or they're photos from another sub. I spent 2 nearly undisturbed hours aboard K-77 and did not see the panels they're showing. Additionally, despite its labeling on the page, http://www.juliett484.org/juliett/images/sonar.jpg is the radar system, not the sonar system.

EDIT: Now that I look thru some of my Submarine Force Museum and Nautilus pics, I see that the old MK113 FCS and WLR-1G ESM system had orange displays too... I'm not sure whether those were just colored plastic overlays to dim the light from the CRT or if the CRT glass/phosphor was actually colored orange.
