Same happened to me ones. I believe the Stock version had it different then after 1.4 though i am not sure about it.
What i do is that i back-up the Careers quite regularly since i play on two platforms. What you could do is installing Live Mesh or some and select the career file to be backup constantly on the net or synchronize to you phone or some.
