I was stuck at that too.
Well, not stuck as you can just get close and retreat and watch him blow up, but I prefer harvesting.
Moar trivia; There's reference to Hudson in the game, one unfortunate marine is wearing Hudson's armor piece.
EDIT: Well, msot of the marines are wearing it.
But as we see in ALIENS they are painted with personal stuff, so I'm sticking with the Hudson theory.
