Hey skippers!
Here is a link to another preview of SHV on polish site Gram.pl, as far as I’m concerned no matter which country You live. the chance that You know polish language is equal to 0 so I will try to point out most important info. First thing is that they got unfinished version labelled as „Preview code” and they have no idea when it was released and how much final version will be polished and finished out comparing to this build.
After some history of SH series comes real info:
- only type VII U-Boot (nothing new)
- free movement: also nothing new I think. You must go to periscope to fire torpedos or walk to deck gun to use it, no teleport hotkey,
- they saw crewmember felt on the floor when U-Boot was hit
- it seems that crew is fixed, they didn’t find any menu that allows to customize crew, but that may be due to early version of the game.
- Deck gun crew don’t react when they are covered by waves and stand still what a spirit
- Crews on other ships don’t react to events on sea, they aren’t acting differently even if ship is stuck with torp or on fire.
- Interface is still enigmatic and unfriendly to newcomers
- During visiting port You can walk on the dock and talk to few persons in order to resupply torps, fuel etc. There is no voice acting in this activities, NPC only bring a proper menu. That can be skipped and done automatically like in previous games.
- On campaign matter that is a very funny and sad story: he started in early september 1939 on Baltic Sea as first officer on boat. Then he was woken up by crewmember Dieter Epp and told that captain want to speak with him. Capt say that it is quiet night but it is only silent before the storm. Then he got to sink some frieghters and return to Kiel. He decided to take a look on polish coast. Schleswig-Holstein and Schlesien were docked in two different ports at the same time (Hel and Gdansk) According to map in Gdynia was Bismarck and when he went to see it he was intercepted by four british destroyers (in september 1939 on Baltic Sea)
- He went to Kiel, became captain and went to next mission to intercept convoys between Spain and England and... he was woke up by Dieter who wanted him to talk to captain, who said that it was quiet night, despite that it was stormy day on Baltic Sea... so he reloaded save and started that mission again. That time he was in right place but Dieter and captain couldn’t believe that they aren’t on Baltic Sea anymore...
I’m very sad to read and wrote all this ‘cause I still have faith in SHV and I blame very early version they tested (I want to believe that it was very early version). Sorry to bring another things to worry about but I wanted to share this with community...
