Between 39 to early 1942 I turn on the Dud Torpedo option. In that...my success rate on hits goes down about 25%. It's not that I miss, but the fish won't detonate upon impact. Or, if I fire a TII magnetic pistol, the odds are 2 to 1 it will detonate between the tube and the target. I usually never use a magnetic pistol if the wind exceeds 5 knots per sec.

In saying that, I too have seen the Pass/Cargo ships take their time "dying", even with multiple hits; but that's IF is I use impact pistols. If I use magnetic with at least 2 hits, it seems to go a little faster. I use manual targeting and do all my calculations using MaGui/OLC tools. From my experience it seems that AoB is not as critical than speed of target is. It's a lot harder in rougher seas. I usually use a spread of 2-4 fish and if the target is 1000m or less I will set the spread at 2°. I fire just when the cross hairs of the scope are upon the fwd mast. That way at least 2 fish will hit amidships and one in the bow.
