With only 24 ‘A’ international matches having been played in the last four weeks, there are few major changes in August’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Mexico and Gold Cup winners the USA continue to occupy the top six positions, but England (7th, up 1) overtake Spain (8th, no change). Due to a devaluation of past results, the French (9th, down 2) continue to lose ground and they are now in their lowest position since winning the FIFA World Cup™ in 1998.
