On two of my last patrols I ended up using my VIIB as a minesweeper. Both times I struck friendly mines right outside of Wilhelmshaven. I lost seven men the first time and six the second. The second time was a bit surreal; the conning tower was blazing, all but one of the watch crew had been blown up, and the lone survivor stood in the flames calmly scanning the horizon as if nothing was wrong
