basically they feel it's more important to listen when "Frenssen farts" than what's going outside of the sub?
after all they said you WILL hear the atmospheric sounds from within the uboat but the sound of depth charges will only "most likely make it in"
when Frenssen farts... get it? just like in Das Boot
maybe you'll even be able to put an oxigen mask on...
