Before we terminate this discussion I had a further look at the DW manual TMA.
As OKO said it is not as tolerant as SC in accepting data taken during a turn but it has never been
'good practise ' to use such data. You would always wait for the TA to straighten and start to build a picture 2 minutes on.
It is obviously important to hold course, depth and speed on a data collection run . But is that enough ?
Will you not improve the quality of your data subsequently AFTER completing a course or speed change ? I think so.
What is appparent is that it is still vital to ascertain whether you are running in lag or lead -
put yourself in a beam (90 deg.) aspect and follow Tacman instructions regarding the fan. If this is not necessary please share !
Although I am still looking I have yet to see what other features or improvements DW brings to manual TMA. :hmm:
