I remember seeing the original in the '80's. From reading the precis, I'd assume it's been updated 'cos it mentions Jed returing from a tour of Afghanistan. If it was the '80's then he would have not been sent there unless it was by the CIA I suspect.

The original wasn't terrible, it just wasn't very good either. Dunno that it would work in current time as the USSR doesn't scare the USA anymore and unless they do mean the Chinese PLA there ain't anyone else looking to come knocking at the moment that doesn't want to strap explosives to themselves and I can't see them doing a major airborne invasion.

The thing I never understood from the original was how the USSR was supposed to send all these troops over the Mid-West without the US forces putting up any sort of resistance before they got there.
