This will be just a quick wrap up of patrol 5.

Headed south from previous convoy action. Made contact with a convoy in the southern approaches. Tracked for 24 hours, and when attempting to make firing position was too far behind and daylight was too close to permit an attack. Called in contact report and left it to other boats to get into position.

Headed back north and decided to try heading inland to the Isle of Man. Made it about a grid further in than where I made contact with the last convoy, found a lone Grainsville. One torp into him just before sundown. Took an hour to finally go under. Continued north due to low torpedo stock. Now sitting on four. Found another contact nearby and put the coastal freighter down with a single torpedo. Buckled his keel good. Continued north.

Found a Schooner northeast of Scapa. Sent him under with the deck gun in choppy seas. Found another contact further south and fired off one torpedo in the darkness of 3am. He was under within 1/2 an hour. Finally made contact with another Coastal freighter just east of the English coast. Due to a botched intercept (User error, bumped up TC way too much) fired off a parting shot with my last eel. Freighter barely dodged that and I continued back to Wilhelmshaven. 0 eels remaining and 10 bagged for 35k tons. Not a bad patrol. Made port just in time to get the men home for Christmas too.
