This kind of music is not my cup of tea really but I'll give some feedback, want it or not.
I'm more into 1 guitar, swingy stuff these days.
Vocals sound pretty good. Extra points for that.
Bass is kinda bumby, but that is easy to fix on the mix.
Maybe add some compressor on it. No big deal.
Rythm guitar(s) could be a little louder. Especially in metally type of songs
with Eeevil riffs I want to hear what's going on.
Try losing some reverb on rythm guitars, it will bring them forward.
Reverbs are cool in solos but folks over do it easily.
Drums also need attention in the mix, bass-drum needs more snap, cymbals are
too quiet.
(Losing My Mind in myspace has perty good drum mix)
About the intro in Cry Wolf, lead guitar, arpeggios are something that has to go/be in time.
Takes a lot of time and I mean
a lot to make it work.
IMO if the sweeping is not "in the pocket" it's not cool to listen.
There's seem to be some timing issues over all, can't really hear it but the band feels a little sloppy.
That can be fixed with rehearsing without tons of reverbs and rehearsing that
personal/technical stuff at home
with metronome.
That Metronome is the only shortcut on that. Drum machines work too,
or anything with a steady pulse.
If you play metal stuff, it
has to be tight. There's no such thing as sloppy-metal, especially in rhythm parts.
About the Cry Wolf song itself, that is allrite. Melodys and ideas are cool.
Listening to some broken string bluesy stuff on teh MySpace which is more on my alley,
I'd say them guitarist could try some chords like 6, 9 and even 13's in some places,
could be cool.
Or maybe not. But it won't hurt to try.
Especially with 2 guitarist band it is important that the guys don't play the same stuff exactly
or it might start sound boring, atleast for me as another guitar player. :P
That is in teh Blues, playing the the same riffs with 2 guitars on a Metal song
is very cool but only if it's tight enuff.
Barre 7th chords does the same to me like singers starting "I woke up this morning..." well, sort of.
Maybe that's a matter of taste in the end.
Oh my , this all sounds maybe a little too critical and it could be the fact that its morning
and I'm on my first cup of coffee today.
Nothing personal here but just some of my thoughts on what I'm hearing.
Also, I did try to be gentle since we're on public forums.
Anyways, keep it up and don't give up.
