Welcome.
The Res Fix Mod (bat file) will support higher resolutions. I have successfully run GWX 3.0 @ 1920 x 1080. However, SH3 does not support widescreen resolutions correctly, so I suggest sucking it and seeing.
At least with the bat file you can uninstall the changes.
