When I want to hit, I just use active .. I'm quiet until the torpedo is where the target should be
(and where CM is waitng usually) .. then I do 1 ping .. You can tell CM from sub from that. CM are always WAY TOO BIG. Then I renavigate the torpedo.
Don't ping too much. But don't be afraid to ping several times. Enemy sub will know your bearing from TIW call and it will have full hands of evading your fish, so you don't give much info about yourself away anyway.
And of course, you can use UUV active sensor to final TMA quite safely.
UUV is very good for targeting, but also evading torpedoes. If you have 2 UUVs, you get immidiate exact torpedoes position even if your sub is doing 40 kts.
