After catching a glimpse at the beta version I can give you a good idea. The system is very complex and includes many stages and possibilities. Apparently, if you stay surfaced, the escorts will engage you with their gun. But if you dive, it will only take them a few minutes to figure out that the guns are ineffective. SO, they'll circle around you and drop depth charges. If they miss, you'll love this part, they will adapt to the new situation and drop depth charges AGAIN. Amazing, I know...
