God, yes, although we mostly had whole cassettes so finding the start wasn't too difficult. Then you got the multi-coloured loading screens and if you didn't have a fit whilst waiting the 10-15 minutes to load, and if it didn't part-way through decide that it didn't want to play, then man, the fun began

Then the NES came out and the console era took off.
