OK. I pressed "post reply" so I have to try my best now.
Your question is certainly complicated by your curcumstances.

First: Welcome aboard.

Using the Weapons Officer is a good choice.
He's there to help you, so make him work for a living.

1: Press F6 on your keyboard.
You'll see a switch set to "M" (magnetic).
Left click on the "I" (impact).
This will eliminate some complications of magnetic triggers.

Now find "Running Depth".
The needle is set to "4".
Left click on the "3" line, just above "4".
This will also eliminate some complications.
These 2 simplifications come at a price, which is, until you learn more about these 2 dials, no firing torpedoes at warships. None! I mean it. (Smile)

There is another switch set to "T".
Move it to "S". (You know how to do it now.)

Set "Spread" to "2". (The same way you already set "Running Depth")

One more switch to adjust.
This one is set to "I II III IV".
Move it up one notch to "I II IV".
This means you'll be firing 3 torpedoes.

2: Off to the Weapons Officer.
Press "F4" on your keyboard. Welcome to the bridge.
The "UZO" is right in front of you. (It looks like binoculars.)
Left click it.

Point it at your target and press "L" on your keyboard.
You have just locked the target.
Ask the Weapons Officer to Identify The Target and give a Solution.

Range is the distance between you and the target.
Speed is how fast the target is moving.
Bearing (the numbers on the UZO) is the direction from you, of the target.
AOB (Angle On the Bow) is the direction from the target, to you.
Port is the left side of his ship.
Starboard is the right side of his ship. (The same goes for your boat).

I think the best way to help you, is to give you a goal, and let you teach yourself by trying to achieve it.

Try to line yourself up in such a way that "Gyro Indicator" on the UZO reads 000.
And the AOB is less than 90.
Press "Q" on your keyboard. (This opens the torpedo tube doors).
Ask the Weapons Officer for a Solution again.
Check/Tick the empty box on the Notepad (Bottom Right Corner).
Left click on the "Fire" button.

You just fired 3 torpedoes.
The stopwatch should stop running at, or about, the time of impact.

That's just some very basic information for you.
You can learn much more by practicing, experimenting, and reading posts on this forum, from alot of people that are better equipped to teach than I.

Enjoy yourself, and have a great day.
