IIRC there was a minor bug in VonDos' old models that led to his ships either riding very low in the water or sometimes sinking slowly on their own as well as problems with the propulsion.

Although the Aquitania isn't mentioned it's possible that it's the same problem. The solution would be to download the latest version of RMS Aquitania from VonDos' shipyard:
