I think that sums it up.
I'd like to add: Maybe it has to do with the fact that a lot of political threads here are criticising government policy, and the current POTUS just happens to be from the political left (at least by American standards, as far as I can tell from my European perspective). To parahrase Aramike in a way: you're much more likely to start a thread about something you
don't like than vice versa.
I haven't been on this site during the Bush years, but I can imagine that the rants were just about as frequent.
