No additional keystrokes should be needed. The overlay shows up on both the nav chart and attack map when you zoom to close range. If it's the only mod in your game then it should show ... but, if you have other mods, then one of them might be in conflict.
Btw, you
are talking about the range-bearing overlay that sits on top of (and follows) your sub's present position, right?
