That's with the 1.2.1 patch installed as well. Guess it's at least patched correctly.

Well that confirms the install is ok.
I had just come on to say that I downloaded the patch again, did a compare of the 2 files and they are identical, if the key combo causes the slowdown again I will have to try the link you supplied Arclight making a config file in the game main folder.
Since your reading this I notice there are
many mods around to improve the texturing for this game, can you recommend any?
