I shoot DD's for a reason: I've noticed I gain rank a lot faster if I take out a few warships every patrol, (provided I can find suitable targets, I'm not foolish, would rather not die for the chance at another rank!). I'm on Patrol 4 right now, and am Lt. Commander, guess that's pretty good, my fastest rising captain yet.

That is very good. I had thought that the rank increases were related to "stored" renown. I am on patrol 11 right now with about 380K in tonnage and 10K in stored renown and I am only a Lt Sr
