Damn, DAMN, DAMN!

Pardon the language, but I just got seriously disgusted with the US Postal System!

Part of not having an official residence is the problem of recieving mail. So I go to the post office to rent a PO box, and find out they have a new policy, and a new application to fill out.

Two forms of ID are required (nothing new there).

1) Picture ID. Driver's license. Check.

2) Passport, Visa or Green Card. I'm a US citizen, so I don't have any of those.

3) Proof of homeowner's insurance. Nope, don't own a home, or I wouldn't be homeless.

4) Proof of car insurance. Nope, don't own a car.

That's about it. Curiously, they won't take a Social Security card as a form of ID, and I don't have a copy of my birth certificate.

Bottom Line: Even though I have the money, they refuse to rent me a Post Office Box. I have to use General Delivery until I can sort it out. Needless to say I wrote a polite but angry e-mail to the Post Office, and today I'm calling their complaint line (at least they have one!).

Otherwise things are going alright. I won't say great, but only because I can't use my own computer right now, and can't play SH3 and 4. On the other hand, once I'm in the shelter I'll be able to save up for a car, a place, a new computer, band equipment, and all the other important things.
