I got zapped by a Jellyfish when I was kid - We were at a place called Streaky Bay on the west coast of South Australia ,visiting some friends when we went to the town "Swimming pool" , basically a big arc mesh enclosure on the side of the jetty to keep the sharks out!(If you google earth Streaky Bay you can see it on the side of the jetty).
Problem was , the cage doesn't keep other stuff out and there was large numbers of Jellyfish around - I'd just jumped in and was swimming back to the ladder when I felt this really bad pain in my leg , got out of the water and there was this dirty big tentacle from one of them on my leg , when my old man tried to pull it of ,it took a big line of skin and some meat with it ,ended up with a scar on my leg that's still clearly visible after 30+ years
