I caught a cold the other day and wasn't up to participating in Halloween antics. Not having Halloween in Australia, I think there are too many treats and not enough tricks on Oct 31, but, daughter # 3 volunteered to take my place tonight.
The house was decked out with an assortment of stuff, including right beside the front door, a coffin, and a rope activated ghost that flew down from a recess in the ceiling. She weights about 150 pounds less then me so we stood the coffin up. When the treaters would arrive and press the doorbell, the Halloween decorations would go dark, the strobe light would come on, the ghost would drop down and the coffin would open up, allowing the daughter to jump out.
The early hours: parents with young kids, so no play action for them.
The early teenagers: we had one father sitting in the car waiting for his gangster boys, when the daughter jumped out, the boys ran across the lawn and the father drove off without them.
The older teenagers: dressed in jeans and the last minute mask - game on. There was squealing and screaming, and that was from the boys. Some of those kids may have to do laundry tonight cause we heard one still screaming as he turned the corner, 9 houses away.
I just turned the lights on the front yard, I have more candy spilled on the front lawn then I handed out.
Happy Halloween.
