Swimming is annoying, but it has helped to grab a point or two. Even if just for a short while. It sucks though when a sniper just happens to notice you and some guys swimming to shore.

I'm certainly not the best player or anything, but sometimes I'm on a team so hopeless that the enemy simply has everything, even our own turf locked down. I remember this happening a lot on wake. I spawn on the island with the arty and I'm getting bombed from enemy aircraft or picked off by snipers and tanks or worse, the enemy decided to make camp there and destroy the arty and anybody spawning. The boats, even the ones from the carrier, are completely unable to make it to the mainland without being destroyed (mostly by enemy aircraft). Our own aircraft are either bombed where they spawn or swiftly taken out by better pilots. Sure I might get lucky and manage to grab a point with a few other guys for a brief moment, but it just never seems to go anywhere when the enemy team is way better.

Also, I like to play the big servers (i like that little war feeling with so many people) so it gets pretty easy for a better team to lock the map down.

It really does wind up being a hopeless situation. I usually prefer to blame the pilots. The aircraft in that game can give you hell. A team with a really good pilot or two can do wonders. I wish the AA defenses were better...

When the game turns into this (really it only ever happens for me sometimes on that 24/7 wake server), the only entertainment I get is in trying to foil the enemy rambo squads that try to infiltrate the carrier.
