There's a post about watching out for land when in TC, I thought that was rather odd, How could one hit land with all the water around
I found out the hard way while patrolling the Karimata Straights.
Cruising along in shallow water at 20 knots under a moonless night TC set at 16. Then the crashing and breaking and screaming starts. We have this broke that broke bodies strewn everywhere. What the heck hit us???? No reports of enemy ships, maybe a mine or enemy sub. Run to the bridge and behold a moving Island hit us.
Seems when I plotted my search pattern I did not have the map zoomed in enough to see the friggin fly speck right in my path
I think I may have been Posthumously Court Martialed for that one.
So my question is has anyone else hit a moving Island or Continent? or do I get the Homer "DOH" award?
