Well I ended up deleting that character and starting over. Reading this website helped me out alot;

I'm currently a Sword/shield/spear character.
I have another question though. In my last career I was asked by a Lord to be a Mercenary for his faction. If I become a mercenary am I still able to become a vassal of said faction?
And whats the best way to get a mercenary army?
