to get hidden files to show in xp you open any folder (it needs an open folder to give you the correct options) click on top toolbar on "tools" then "folder options" then select the view tab and the second yellow folder on the list says "hidden files and folders" select to "show" and say ok
you should make sure you reselect to "hide" them again when you are done because its a safety feature to keep you from messing with files you shouldnt be messing with.
but this hidden folder should be removed when you uninstall the game so i dont think its your problem since you've already done it.
