Probably not many Americans have even heard of her. I like her music. Thanks to jimbuna's gramaphone packages, I have quite a bit of her music on my gramaphone to listen to on those long, lonely Atlantic patrols.
I can imagine how her songs made the soldiers think of home.
It is funny, but I heard of her through the Pink Floyd song when The Wall was released. You know the line..."Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?" I've always remembered that.
Then I saw her interviewed briefly in the World at War documentary(the one about Burma IIRC).
I've really never heard much of her music, except for a snippet here or there, until I got into SH3.
